Dream Ridge Excavating was built to answer that. We handle foundations, septic systems, driveways, land clearing, fire mitigation, trucking and lawn work for property owners across Toponas, Yampa, Oak Creek, Phippsburg, Steamboat Springs and the country in between. We work directly with the owner wherever we can, because that is how the schedule stays in our hands instead of somebody else’s.
Owner David Stoltzfus is licensed and certified to install septic systems in Routt County, training and county registration that a lot of contractors do not carry. He is fully insured. He runs his own track machine and brings in a dozer or excavator when the job calls for it.
It is simpler than it sounds: an efficient job site. Crews that stage poorly, wait on decisions, or make three trips where one would do. David priced this business around running tight days so the number at the bottom stays fair.
Here is how it goes. Call or send the form and describe the project. David comes out, walks the ground with you, and gives you a straight estimate. On direct jobs he pulls the permits himself, so nobody is waiting on anybody. Then the work gets scheduled and done.

David always wanted to own an excavating business. What decided it was watching the work get done badly.
He spent fifteen years in construction, roofing, framing and general building, and several years in equipment rentals, which put him on job sites alongside excavating contractors week after week. The prices they charged struck him as high, so he started looking into why. It was not the equipment, and it was not the material. It was time. Jobs that should have taken two days took four, and the customer paid for all of it.
He started Dream Ridge Excavating to run the other way: tight, well-staged job sites and a price that reflects them.
David is licensed and certified to install septic systems in Routt County. He still runs the machine himself on every job. There is no crew you have never met showing up in his place.
He settled at 8,200 feet in south Routt County, on ranch land, and he is slowly building toward a small herd of cattle. To his eye nothing beats green ranch land.
